Tobacco-Free Sports:

Taking the Challenge

One of the most important ways to show leadership in your community is to create tobacco-free policies in your school or sports association. It sends a loud and clear message that tobacco use is not the norm in your community and it will help provide young people with a healthy, smoke-free environment in which to play. Tobacco-free policies help educate everyone including teachers, coaches, referees and parents about the important of being tobacco-free role models.

For information on developing tobacco-free policies for your school’s sports events, or for your sports association, check out the Tobacco-Free Sports Kit including t-shirts, posters, and a Tobacco-Free Leader’s Guide at www.preventionsource.org/events/sports/index.html
